Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to wear?
All you need to wear is comfortable looser fitting clothing. No
street shoes are allowed to be worn during class ot the Yoga
Center. You may practice barefoot, with socks on, or you may
purchase cotton soled tai chi(kung fu) shoes. The normally cost
about $10, but are not necessary for practice.
Lowertown Tai Chi is held outside, so comfortable clothing and
footwear are all that is needed.
What is 'Temple Style' Tai Chi?
Temple style Tai Chi generally means that a lot of the methods and
techniques used are the same as the ones that were taught in the
Taoist temples. There is a heavy focus on Personal cultivation, Chi
development, Tao wisdom, and moving meditation. Solo forms
(Qigong) are emphasized as a primary development tool, but long
form is also taught, as well as two person practice. Most of the
forms are recognized to be from the Yang family style forms.
